Shamakhi & Lahij Day Tour from Baku

9–10 hours from $110

The old royal road in a private car: the cliff-carved Diri Baba mausoleum, Shamakhi — Azerbaijan's ancient capital with the oldest mosque in the Caucasus — an optional wine tasting at an organic winery, then the mountain village of Lahij with its cobbled lanes and coppersmith workshops. One fixed price per car, not per person, and the car stays with you all day.

Shamakhi was the capital of the Shirvan kingdom for almost a thousand years before Baku took over—and this route strings together its highlights with one of the country's most scenic drives: the Girdimanchay Gorge road up to Lahij. Group tours rush this in a fixed loop; with your own car, you can linger in a copper workshop, skip the winery if you don't drink, or stay for tea in Lahij until the light gets good for photos. It's your day.

FAQ

Can we change the itinerary?

Yes — it's a private tour. Stay longer where you like, skip what you don't, or add a stop. Just tell your driver.

Is the road to Lahij open in winter?

The last stretch is a narrow gorge road. After heavy snow or rockfall, it occasionally closes — if that happens on your date, your driver will suggest more time in Shamakhi and the winery instead, or you can switch to another tour.

Is the price per person or per car?

Per car. Fuel, parking, and waiting are all included.
