The route

Pickup is from any address in Baku or the arrivals hall of Heydar Aliyev International Airport, with a name sign and 60 minutes of free waiting after your flight lands. The 170 km drive north takes about two and a half hours on good coastal highway, passing the sacred Beshbarmag rock and the striped Candy Cane Mountains before turning inland into Guba's famous apple-orchard country.

Marshrutka minibuses from Baku take longer, run on their own schedule and drop you at the bus station — a private car delivers you to your guesthouse door and can stop for photos or roadside apples on the way. Planning to continue up the spectacular mountain road to Khinalug? Tell us in advance and we will send an SUV suited to the climb.

Why Guba

What to expect

Guba is northern Azerbaijan's green escape: apple orchards, centuries-old carpet-weaving workshops, and the dramatic Tenghi Canyon a short drive from town. Across the river lies Krasnaya Sloboda, one of the world's last all-Jewish towns outside Israel, with synagogues and a museum of Mountain Jewish heritage.

The star day trip is Khinalug — a 2,350 m mountain village of stone houses and its own unique language, among the highest continuously inhabited places in Europe. Cool summers make Guba a favorite weekend break from Baku; in autumn the orchards are heavy with apples and the forests turn gold.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from Baku to Guba?

~2.5 h for 170 km, depending on traffic leaving Baku and conditions on the way.

How much does a taxi from Baku to Guba cost?

A private transfer with BakuTransfer costs a fixed $100 for a sedan (up to 3 passengers) or $120 for a minivan (up to 6). The price is per car and agreed before you travel — no meter, no negotiating, tolls included.

Is the price per person or per car?

Per car. A $100 sedan costs $100 total regardless of how many of you travel. Tolls included; no hidden fees.

Can you pick me up directly from the airport?

Yes — your driver tracks your flight, waits at arrivals with a name sign, and waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes — $10 per seat. Select the number of child seats during booking and tell us the children's ages.

Can the transfer continue to Khinalug village?

Yes — Khinalug is about 60 km beyond Guba on a spectacular mountain road, and it's the most popular trip from here. It has its own fixed-price transfer from Baku (see the Khinalug route page), or tell us in advance and we'll quote the Guba → Khinalug leg; in winter we run it by SUV.

Is there a bus from Baku to Guba?

Marshrutka minibuses run from Baku's international bus station, but they leave when full, take longer, and drop you at Guba bus station — not your guesthouse. A private transfer is door to door in ~2.5 h and can stop at Beshbarmag rock or the Candy Cane Mountains on the way.
