Door to door from Baku city or the airport — fixed price per car, day or night.
Lankaran sits about 270 km south of Baku, close to the Iranian border, and the drive takes around 3.5 hours. The route follows the Caspian coast south past Gobustan and Salyan, with the new Alat–Astara motorway covering most of the distance on smooth, fast roads.
The scenery changes noticeably along the way — the dry semi-desert around Baku gradually gives way to green lowlands, rice paddies and finally the humid subtropics of the south, with the Talysh Mountains rising on the right. It's one of the most striking transitions in Azerbaijan.
A comfort stop midway is easy to arrange, and the drive from Heydar Aliyev Airport adds roughly 20 minutes. Many guests break the trip with a stop at the Shirvan National Park turn-off or the tea houses near Masalli.
Lankaran is the capital of Azerbaijan's subtropical south — a region of tea plantations, citrus orchards and humid green hills that feels like a different country from Baku. The city itself offers a relaxed seafront, black-sand beaches and landmarks like the 19th-century lighthouse and the Khan's House.
The real draw is the surrounding nature: Hirkan National Park protects ancient Hyrcanian forests — a UNESCO World Heritage listing — home to trees found almost nowhere else on Earth. Nearby villages serve the region's signature dish, lavangi (chicken or fish stuffed with walnuts and herbs), best with tea from a boiling samovar.
Hot springs in the hills, the Gizil-Agaj bird sanctuary on the coast, and easy access to the Talysh Mountains make Lankaran a favourite for two- or three-day escapes. A private transfer keeps the long drive comfortable and lets you stop wherever the scenery asks for it.
